Trade-in

A trade-in means exchanging your car for another one and paying the difference. The dealership takes your car against the price of the one you choose, and you drive away the same day.

How it works:

1. You submit a request with your car details: make, model, year, mileage, trim.

2. A manager gives a preliminary market range. Without an inspection it is always a range — anyone quoting an exact figure over the phone is guessing.

3. You come in for the inspection. It takes about an hour: body, electrics, running gear, diagnostic scan.

4. After the inspection the dealership names the final figure. It may differ from the preliminary one, in either direction.

5. If the figure suits you, we handle the paperwork and pick a car from the catalogue.

What affects the valuation: mileage and how well it is documented, service history, body and paint condition, accident record, number of owners, trim level, season, and demand for that particular model.

What does not hurt the valuation, contrary to common belief: small stone chips on the bonnet, worn tyres, and a missing second set of wheels. These are consumables, budgeted into pre-sale preparation.

If the final figure does not suit you, you lose nothing and are under no obligation to continue. The inspection is free.
